How Ductless Systems Work

There are Three Main Parts to a Ductless “Split” Air Conditioning System

1. The Indoor Unit mounts on an exterior wall of any room which needs to be heated or cooled
2. The Outdoor Unit gets placed outside where a typical Air Conditioning Condenser would be placed
3. The Linesets run in a concealed and inconspicuous ductwork, outside of the house, connecting the indoor unit to the outdoor unit

Each indoor unit has its own thermostat to control the room temperature and is extremely quiet!

The Heat Pump Process (in Cooling Mode)

1. The outdoor unit compresses the refrigerant in the system, this raises the temperature of the refrigerant
2. The hot refrigerant is then cooled down using a heat exchanger and the ambient air outside
3. The compressed refrigerant which is now closer to the outside air temperature, is expanded. This expansion process cools the refrigerant down from near outside air temperature to far below that.
4. The cold refrigerant is used in the indoor unit to cool down the air inside your home and then the whole process starts over again.

*In heating mode the process is simply reversed.
